1989-91: Department of English, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujarat). Resumed and completed work for Doctoral Studies.

1988-89: Department of Linguistic Science, Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences, University of Reading, Reading, Berkshire (UK) (25 September 1988 to 1 July 1989).

1980-88: Department of English, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujarat). Completed a 4-Semester MA course in 1982, joined the Department as a Lecturer, enrolled for Doctoral Studies in February 1983 and completed a major part of my work, but went on a sabbatical for a year to the UK to do an MA in Applied Linguistics.

1978-80: H M Patel Institute of English Training and Research affiliated to Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujarat). Completed a 4-Semester MEd (English) part-time course in 1980.

1973-78: H M Patel Institute of English Training and Research affiliated to Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujarat). Completed a 10-Semester BABEd (English) full-time course in 1978.

1969-73: Sharda English Teaching School, Anand (Gujarat) with a year 1970-71 in CVM English Teaching School (Gujarat) (presently known as I B Patel English Teaching School, Vallabh Vidyanagar).

1960-69: St Johns XXIII English Medium School, Karimnagar (Andhra Pradesh) for Nursery and Primary Education, losing two precious years in 1963-65 in fighting a life-threatening attack of meningitis and typhoid.

MA in Applied Linguistics (MAAL), University of Reading (UK). July 1989. Specialisation in Language Testing. Pass. The only three grades awarded by the University of Reading in 1988-89 were Pass with Distinction/Pass/Fail. Missed the highest grade by 2 per cent.

MA in Entire English, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujarat). April/May 1982. A Grade. 5.19 CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) that was then based on a scale of 0-6. Secured the top position. This degree course was available under the semester system.

MEd (English), Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujarat). April/May 1980. A Grade. 4.92 CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) that was then based on a scale of 0-6. Specialisation in Curriculum Development and Materials Preparation. Secured the top position. This degree course was available under the semester system and I had done it on a part-time basis.

BABEd (English), Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar (Gujarat). April/May 1978. I Class (64.76%). Secured the top position. Specialisation in ELT.

Awards
International Award
One of the 9 scholars selected from the country in 1988 under the Overseas Development Agency (UK)-funded Technical Cooperation Training Programme Scheme administered by the British Council in India but the only to be selected directly by the British Council Headquarters in London by waiving the requirement of a PGDTE of CIEFL (Hyderabad) and an interview by their office in India to do an MA in Applied Linguistics at the University of Reading (UK) between 20 September 1988 and 1 July 1989.

National Award
“Bharat Jyoti Award” and Certificate of Excellence conferred by India International Friendship Society, New Delhi on 6 May 2006.

Shri B C Patel Gold Medal of Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar for obtaining the highest number of marks (64.42%) in Theory Papers at the BABEd (English) Examination, April 1978.

Shri Parshivnath Construction Pvt Ltd Gold Medal of Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar for scoring the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (4.92) on a 7-Point scale at the MEd (English) Examination, April/May 1980.
